Stanley Handling has supplied a PowerMate stairclimber to Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions for use at its communications equipment site in Cambridgeshire. Part of Tyco International, the company designs, installs and services fire detection, protection and suppression systems, access control, CCTV and other integrated solutions to a wide range of industry sectors across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Much of the site’s output is made up of electronics and communications equipment in racks. Because of the height of many of the racks, access through doorways on site is often problematic. Acquired to resolve this issue by enabling the units to be tilted, the PowerMate M2B is now used widely for movements around the plant and has both contributed to safer working practices and created some efficiencies in manufacturing processes. Once equipped with communications and video equipment, the racks can be heavy as well as cumbersome and the PowerMate has made handling them easier and more controlled, reducing risks to both personnel and goods.

The PowerMate is also being used for some customer deliveries, again making for greater safety and improving installation times.
