When FCC (Europe) Ltd, specialist producer of clutches for motorbikes and cars, needed to manoeuvre pallets that could not be easily handled by conventional equipment, it turned to Stanley Handling Ltd.
Leaders in the field of materials handling equipment with more than 50 years experience, Stanley Handling proved its expertise by devising a solution to enable a single operative in FCC's Production Department to move the unwieldy pallets.
Graham Wellings, Production Assistant Manager of FCC (Europe) Ltd says: "At FCC we supply clutches for a major UK car manufacturer. The clutches are placed in a moulded plastic tray within the customer's pallet, which is of a unique design. Thirty clutches are stored in each pallet."
"Stanley Handling provided the solution by providing one of its ROBUR SB1612 Series Heavy Duty Powered Stackers with straddle legs. Modifications were also made to increase the width of the forks to fit around the pallet. This modification enabled a single operative to lift and manoeuvre the pallets for stacking. The ROBUR SB's lift height was also modified to enable pallets to be stacked 3 high."
The ROBUR SB1612 is a heavy-duty powered lift and drive stacker designed for fast and frequent handling within production, vehicle loading and warehousing environments. With a capacity of 1200kg and lift height of 1600mm maximum versatility is ensured. The ROBUR SB1612 is suitable for use with Euro and non bottom-boarded pallets.
Robert Stanley says: "At Stanley Handling we pride ourselves on being able to provide a solution to many unusual materials handling problems. As the FCC pallets are of a unique design had we not modified the stacker more equipment - such as a counterbalanced fork truck - would have been necessary to complete the process. The wide straddle stacker therefore negated the need for further equipment and provided both a more suitable and cost effective solution."
